An artistic and historical resort
Korholan Kartano (Korhola Manor) offers a magnificent setting for 5th- and 6th-graders for a different camp school experience. The manor has hosted courses and feasts and been artist Oili Marski’s atelier home since 1971.
The manor milieu has been renovated with respect to traditions and it is protected by the National Board of Antiquities and Historical Monuments, the magnificient setting feeds young artists’ imagination, sense impressions and give unforgettable experiences. Accommodation in the manor’s unique and cosy rooms for 2-5 persons. The rooms have beds and linen. Some of our rooms have ensuite facilities. We work in magnificient outbuildings with modern equipment and relax in the lakeside sauna and heated tub.
A peaceful and inspiring atmosphere
In our camp schools the children can work in a peaceful atmosphere together, in small groups and independently, getting to know their personal relation to art and the opportunities given by their environment. This is enabled by a theme fixed beforehand. We use adventure education elements as part of the art camp school and thus help the children to get to know themselves.
Individual as starting point
All our teaching begins with the imagery of the student’s own environment, his or her perceptions and images and the experiences given by these. We guide the student to find his or her own relation to art and to develop his or her own pictorial expression.
Continuity with schoolwork and the easiness of the tutor’s role
We focus on a theme planned beforehand with the teacher. It is worked with versatile equipments with skilled instructors. The children have round-the-clock supervision, so the class can be accompanied by teachers only. Basically the whole programme can be lead by our intructors.
Themes for general art education (duration 15 hours)
Art history
General art history and Finnish art periods. Our tools are art books, slides, movies and art analysis.
Artistic expression and pictorial thinking
The basics for studying the form, content and meaning of a picture, composition and understanding means of portrayal. Analysis and interpretation exercises.
Art knowledge and cultural know-how
An introduction to the basic elements of pictoral expression. Form, composition, color interaction, depicting space and human proportions. We work by drawing, painting and moulding.
Environmental aesthetics, architecture and design
Environmental education by the means of art, introduction to studying nature, buildings and objects based on experiences by seeing and feeling.
Media and pictoral communication
We study the various pictoral media of everyday life. The language and its interpretation in photographs, movies, video and computer images.
Optional group assignments (duration 8 hours)
We aim at teamwork and interaction and shared art experiences. The project is carried out during the camp school and it emphasizes sense impressions, finding one’s own artistic capacity and developing the
basic skills of artistic expression.

Guided activities (duration 8 hours, included in the price)
These offer the students a flying visit to vivid action and challenging exercises. We work with adventure educational elements and aim at self expression and paying attention to others and finding, testing and developing one’s boundaries.

Camp school price (accommodation, meals, activities, instruction, materials)
Group size: less than 20 persons: price 60 €/person/night
20-25 persons: price 55 €/person/night
more than 26 persons: price 48 €/person/night
Booking fee: upon confirmation 30 %, final payment 14 days before the camp starts
Terms of return: more than 1 month before = booking fee, less than 1 month before = full payment
Optional activities, due to a fee (duration 3 hours)
Additional activities for the whole group (we recommend 1 /camp)
– visit to the museum and church (2 €/person, 2,5 km to the museum)
– in winter downhill skiing (10 €/person, instructor is included in the price, 5 km to the ski slope)
– in winter trip to public swimming pool (5 €/person, instructor is included in the price, 3 km to the pool)
– in-hand riding or Icelandic horse trek (leading 5 €/person, trek 15 €/person/hour, instructor is included in the price, 3 km to the stables)
– snow mobile or all-terrain vehicles demonstration (15 €/person, comes to our yard)
We can arrange transport to the optional activities.
The exact schedule is always agreed upon between the teacher and the camp supervisor case by case.
