KARELIAN UNRESERVEDNESS!
Jokipirtin Majatalo (Jokipirtti Inn) is located in the municipality of Eno, in Northern Karelia, by the river Pielisjoki, 40 kilometres north of Joensuu. It is a quiet, beautiful spot. It is surrounded by various natural waterways, footpaths, ski tracks and nature parks, as well as berry grounds, fishing grounds, and small game hunting grounds. The staff is friendly and fond of children.
We serve with Karelian unreservedness and take in account the wishes of our guests. We offer home-made food made of local natural products. Especially fish dishes, berries and mushrooms as well as home-baked pastries.
We arrange workplace recreation days. Wilderness guide available. We have a covered outdoor stage with 150 seats. Performances in June and July, schedules: www.jokipirtti.com. The stage is well suited for theatrical plays and concerts (good acoustics).
Accommodation: We have renovated old sawmill workers’ lodgings for accommodation. The timber house was renovated in 1986. It has two double rooms and five rooms for four. It is surrounded by a cottage for 4-6 persons, an outbuilding with four rooms for 2-3 persons and a lakeside sauna.
Farm animals: Dog.
Activities: Bird-watching, hiking, fishing, hunting (licences available), berry picking, mushroom picking, rowing, paddling, swimming, pool-playing, skiing (ski tracks take off from the hostel).
Excursions: Koli hiking area, Patvinsuo swamp, Ruunaa hiking area and rapids, Kolvanan Uuro nature trail, Pamilo nature trail, Paukkaja sawmill monument, Paukkaja spruce (300 years old).
The Lieksa district: Museum of local history and culture, Pikku Kili children’s farm, the studio of local artist Eeva Ryynänen, Valamo monastery.
The Joensuu district: Carelium, Botania – botanical gardens.
The Ilomantsi district: Orthodox churches and village chapels. Rune singer’s cottage. Vineyard.
Camp schools: The hostel is suitable for camp schools. Accommodation for 35 persons, full board available. Various water and nature activities.
