Day 1: Accommodation in Stadion Hostel (3 nights including breakfast and linen). On arrival you will be given a Helsinki Card for 3 days. The card entitles you to free public transport in Helsinki and free entry to ca. 50 museums. After taking your lodgings, you can visit the Olympic Stadium Tower, where you can get a bird’s eye view over Helsinki at a height of 72 meters (the tower is closed on weekdays at 8 pm and at weekends at 6 pm).
Day 2: Guided sightseeing in Helsinki. We visit all the essential sights in Helsinki (for instance the Senate Square, Uspenski Cathedral, Parliament House, Sibelius Monument and, when possible, Temppeliaukio ‘Rock’ Church). You can listen to the commentary in the language of your choice. After the tour it is easy to continue the city tour on one’s own.
Day 3: Free time in Helsinki –you can visit the museums and shopping districts. We recommend warmly a visit to Suomenlinna. It takes only 15 minutes by ferry from the Market Square. Suomenlinna conceals a unique, interesting world and a history of its own. It may be worth while starting your visit at the Suomenlinna Visitor Centre where you can get a clear picture of the history of the island. In summer and at winter weekends you can take part in the guided walking tours to the historical sights of Suomenlinna. Suomenlinna is included in Unesco’s World Heritage List. The design areas of Helsinki with several shops and cosy restaurants are worth visiting, too.
Day 4: Departure day.
The hostel personnel can give you clear instructions for using the public transport system and they can recommend restaurants, shopping places and the most interesting museums.
We are happy to tailor a longer or shorter package according to your wishes. The package can also include tickets to theatre, concerts or the opera, or, for example, a day trip to Tallin or Porvoo. More info: Stadion Hostel / Hostel Manager Vesa Taiveaho. |
